RED TAIL TRAVELER: FALL EDITION

Travel should be full of treats, not tricks.

Dear Red Tail Travelers,

Happy Halloween! The Fall edition of the Red Tail Traveler brings you a mix of travel tips, destination highlights, and and an introduction to my newest—and favorite—Red Tail Traveler.

Our Brand-Newest Red Tail Traveler!

I’m excited to be back planning splendid vacations for my clients after my maternity leave! My time off with Eleanor Wren Hawkins has been incredibly special, and I’m so grateful for these precious moments with my family.

Nora is three months old now and smiling, rolling over, and charming everyone she meets. She watches her mom work every day and is excited to go on vacations around the world! Her top three bucket-list destinations are Paris, Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm, and Sooner Golden Retriever Rescue (she loves her two brothers, Max and Milo).

The Terrors of Travel
(and How to Banish Them!)

In honor of Halloween, we’re spotlighting three scenarios that every traveler dreads—and how to stop them in their tracks.

The Vanishing Passport:
Your passport is gone, and suddenly, getting home feels like a nightmare.

Travel Tip: Snap a photo of your passport and email it to yourself for quick access. Bring copies, and always keep them separate from the original. A hidden pocket or travel pouch can keep it extra secure.

Why use a Travel Advisor? We’ll guide you on the best embassy contacts and ensure you’re prepared, so you’re never stranded!

Lost in the Digital Dark:
Imagine: no Wi-Fi, no GPS, and no clue where you are...

Travel Tip: Download maps offline before you go! Google Maps and Maps.me both let you access routes and landmarks without a signal. Print a mini-map of key spots (yes, the old-school way still works!) for peace of mind wherever you travel.

Why use a Travel Advisor? We provide expert itineraries and clear directions at your fingertips so you'll never be in the dark—even offline!

The Phantom Reservation:
You arrive only to find your name isn’t on the list. Your vacation just turned ghostly!

Travel Tip: Save all confirmations in a dedicated travel folder in your email or sync with a travel app (TripIt or Wanderlog) that keeps everything handy. And if it’s a high-priority reservation, call a day ahead to confirm.

Why use a Travel Advisor? Red Tail Travel always confirms reservations, provides backups, and is a phone call away to solve any problems so you can travel with confidence!

Destination Highlight: Strasbourg!

This city’s shifting borders have created a perfect blend of French and German culture. Often called the "Venice of France," its filled with scenic canals that weave through the city.

When to Visit
The best time to visit is from May to October, when the city is busy with outdoor cafés and local markets. If you're there from late November to December, be sure to visit the famous Christmas markets, especially the Christkindelsmärik, one of the oldest in Europe, dating back to 1570. While you can see the main sites in a few days, Strasbourg definitely deserves more than just a day trip!

What to Do
Explore the charming streets of La Petite France, visit the Strasbourg Cathedral, and take a boat ride along the Rhine. Don't miss a wine-tasting tour at a family-run Alsatian winery just outside the city, where you can enjoy personalized tastings that show off local wine-making traditions.

Where to Stay
For a charming and luxurious hotel stay, I recommend the Hôtel & Spa RÉGENT PETITE FRANCE . It’s located in the heart of La Petite France and is set in a 17th-century building that was once an ice factory, with great views of the canals and picturesque houses right outside your window.
