A Thoughtful Start to 2026
Reflections from behind the scenes and what I’m watching as the year begins
FROM MY DESK
Happy New Year, Red Tail Travelers!
I recently read that 2026 will usher in the Year of the Fire Horse according to the Chinese calendar later this month. While I’m not the biggest zodiac or horoscope believer, I do love the idea of using moments like this as a reminder to step into the new year with a fresh mindset.
Traditionally, the Fire Horse is associated with action, energy, and bold pursuits, and I think that can look different for everyone. For me, I’m choosing to let that energy inspire positive growth and determination in my business, anticipation and preparation as we get ready to welcome our baby boy in March, and a renewed sense of momentum that may have faded a bit during pregnancy.
Whatever this new year brings for you and your family, I hope you’re surrounded by people who support you, and that you spend as much time as possible doing the things you truly love.

TRAVEL REFLECTION
A quick note from behind the scenes
You may have seen recent news about flight cancellations impacting parts of the Caribbean. While disruptions like these aren’t new (especially during winter travel season) they’re a good reminder of why preparation matters.
Before my clients travel, I’m monitoring routes, schedules, and airline patterns closely, building in buffer time where appropriate, and making sure there’s a plan if something changes. My goal is always the same: fewer surprises, calmer travel days, and support along the way.
TRAVEL TIP
Looking ahead to 2026 travel
January is my favorite month to start planning. Not to rush decisions, but to give yourself plenty of options.
If you’re thinking about:
Europe in late spring, summer, or fall: The most popular destinations (Italy, France, Greece, and the UK) book up quickly, especially for boutique hotels and private guides. Ideally, start planning around 6-9 months in advance to secure the best accommodations and experiences.
Peak-season Caribbean or Mexico: For winter and spring breaks, 4-6 months ahead is ideal. Resorts and villas with strong reputations will fill up early, and flights are more manageable when they’re booked in advance.
Milestone trips (anniversaries, birthdays, multi-generational travel): These typically involve multiple travelers, special experiences, and custom itineraries. Begin planning at least 10 months out so we can make sure everyone’s schedules are aligned and design something truly memorable.
Adventure or once-in-a-lifetime journeys: Safaris, cruises, and destinations with limited capacity (like Antarctica or the Galápagos) can require 12–18 months of lead time, depending on the destination and travel season.
Early conversations make a huge difference. There’s more availability, better pacing, and far less stress. Even if plans are still taking shape, this is often the best time to start thinking them through.
If Europe is on your list for 2026…
and you want help shaping your itinerary and pacing, I’d love to help you think through it.
